THE JOURNEY SO FAR
My name is Oyinyechi Amilo aged 19, I hail from Enugukwu in Anambra State Nigeria, and studied psychology, I speak three
languages English, Igbo and French. I started modeling at the age of 17 and so
far I have had my shine times and “those moments’’-if you know what I mean. My
first work was with “RELAX Hair Relaxer’’ At first start of nervousness hit me
but all I did was breathe and believed then I realized it is not has hard as it
looks. Working ways round I started looking jobs up here I featured in the
shades of paint series and Glitz faces calendar. The internet provided all the
info I needed about knowing the all in all and Glitz faces helped actualized
them. There were times that I got jobs that I have really been hoping to get
but some personal and impersonal factors got in the way and there were times
when I got jobs and never get paid, there were even times when I fell out of
auditions but God still got me. Trust me this work is not a smooth ride even
when you have the connections something gets in the way especially here in
Nigeria. The self-esteem too does go a long way because the way you base
yourself might affect your performance; I for one do not take jobs initially
because of the flat nose, I always thought they would make me look odd but
meeting other people with bigger flaws and seeing how they worked with or
handled it I learnt to appreciate and here I am.
The likes of Tara Banks, Naomi
Campbell, Agbani Darego to mention, but a few are my biggest aspirations. If
not modeling, fashion designing would be my second career choice; they work
hand in hand, though so I aspire to work with the likes of Frank Oshodi, Buki
Akin, Isoken Ogiemwonyi, and would also love to work my way to the capital of
fashion; Paris. Altogether, the happiness, adventure and the glamour of meeting
new people has been my drive. So far,it has been God, Glitz, and Goal wanters
all the way. I will not stop because I know that beauty begins with the mind. A
great body, perfect skin, and gorgeous hair will fail to be received as such,
if the mind and spirit are dull. Therefore, peeps keep the attitude positive
and the spirit alive.
